What do I do if my child is ill?
Use common sense when deciding whether your child is too ill to attend school. The following guidance explains the conditions under which a child can attend school, the illnesses for which we need your child to stay at home, and how long they must stay at home.
Not every illness needs to keep your child from school.
If you keep your child away from school, be sure to inform the school by email, MCAS or phone the school office on each day of their absence. If we don't hear from you, we will carry out a home visit to make sure you and your family are safe.
If you are unsure, send your child to school. We will always contact you if they are too ill to stay in school. We can also administer paracetamol, ibuprofen, and prescription medication with your permission.
