Blended Learning

Children may be absent from school because they have symptoms of Covid-19 and are awaiting the results of a PCR test. They may test positive for Covid-19 with symptoms or without. They may be absent from school for one or two days waiting for the result or they may be absent for a prolonged period of isolation while they continue to test positive on Lateral Flow Device tests. Children may feel well enough to tackle learning at home for the whole period they are absent from or for very little of the time they are away from school. This all makes it difficult for teachers to judge how much or how little learning is most appropriate to provide for children absent from class. 

For the above reasons, we have chosen to use provision from Oak National Academy for when children at Larkrise require remote learning. We know this is high quality and we have carefully selected lessons which complement our curriculum and will be relevant and supportive to each child, regardless of the learning happening in class whilst they are absent. 

Class teachers are best placed to support children to catch up on anything they have missed, once they return. The lessons provided for children at home in the meantime will support learning more broadly, as they incorporate life-long learning skills such as telling the time as well as reinforcing topics, themes and ideas taught as part of the Inspire Curriculum. 

The basics can continue to be kept ticking over by using the online subscriptions we currently offer, including Bug Club and Times Tables Rock Stars. We of course recommend more highly than anything that children read as much as they are able while absent from school.
